Introduction:
This easy origami is a great activity for kids and beginners. It is very quick to make and you only need a piece of paper to create this. Once finished, you may decorate it however you like with any drawing materials you have lying around.
Make the creases to form the origami house
Start with a square piece of origami paper. If you’re using single-sided colored paper, face the colored side downwards. Fold the left side to the right side. After that, crease well and unfold.
The second step is to bring the right side and the left side to the middle crease line. The middle crease line is the fold made in step 1. Crease the paper well and unfold.
Bring the bottom side to the top side of the origami paper. Crease the paper well and unfold.
Make two more crease lines by folding the top and bottom sides to the horizontal crease line. Crease the paper well and unfold.
Once you have made a grid formed from the crease marks. Diagonally fold the paper along the dashed line.
Make another crease line as shown is the illustrated dash line above.
Now that we've established crease marks to the origami paper, we can start forming it into a paper house. Fold the left and right sides to the middle.
Form the origami house
Fold point A down to point X. Do the same on the right side by folding point B down to point Y.
Squash the origami paper to the center to form the roof.
It's starting to look like a house! Bring the bottom part upward as illustrated above.
Ta-dah! Your origami house is finished!
Extra Tips
- Decorate your origami house with windows and doors. You may copy what we did or you may draw whatever you want on the paper house. Personalize it and get creative!
- This is a fun decorating activity for kids. For toddlers and smaller kids, create the paper house in a big piece of square papers so they can decorate it in a much bigger space.
- What can you do to decorate your origami house? Houses come in all sorts of designs. Create the windows and doors using various coloring materials such as markers, paints, and crayons. You could also stick some stickers or paste some cutouts to make it extra fancy.
- Create a background for the paper house. Stick it on a sheet of paper and decorate the background however you like! Enjoy!
