Introduction:
There are many ways to make an animal napkin. For this napkin tutorial, we will teach you how to make the adorable marine animal which is the magnificent seal! Our little sea dog is the perfect companion for feeding kids. This will entice them to be interested in what’s on the table. The seal napkin fold isn’t just cute and easy and has practical applications. Use it while dining at a seafood restaurant or serving finger foods on a buffet table.
Shape the napkin into a diamond
To make this animal napkin, get a square piece of table napkin. Cloth or paper napkin will do. Lay it on a flat surface.
Diagonally fold the top right corner to the center of the napkin. It helps to crease the napkin crosswise and lengthwise in half to find out where the center is located.
Do the same on the other corners as well. Bring the other corners to the center. Once done, it should now be shaped like a diamond.
Form the body of the seal napkin
Flip the napkin to the other side.
Bring the right corner to the center.
Do the same to the left corner of the table napkin as well.
Make the flippers of the seal napkin
Bring the bottom corner to the center as well.
To make the flippers of the seal animal napkin, we need to form 2 small triangular flaps. Fold each of the side flaps of the napkin in half. Fold it in an outwards direction as shown in the image above.
Lastly, fold the napkin lengthwise in half. This will form the shaper of the seal. Rotate the napkin 45 degrees counterclockwise and the seal animal napkin is done!
Extra Tips
- Can't get the seal animal napkin to lie upright? It may be due to its stiffness. Use a thick, stiff piece of cloth or paper napkins instead! You can also starch the cloth napkin by making your own mix of starch and water. Spray it evenly on a flat surface, then iron it with an ironing board. You can also get ready-made starch spray from the store or make your own by mixing equal parts starch and water in a bowl. Then evenly coat the napkin with the mixture on a flat surface until it dries entirely, being careful not to get any of it onto your hands before drying
- It's up to you what color your napkin you want to be! For this instruction, we recommend a grey napkin to resemble a seal.
