Introduction:
Learn how to make a sunflower napkin fit for the summer season! The flower napkin is a wonderful way to serve a meal for family and friends during the any fancy or casual occasions! Create this beautiful flower out of a single yellow napkin, and enjoy how beautiful this flower centerpiece can look at the table.
Create the petals of the sunflower napkin
Place the cloth napkin on a flat surface. Take note that you could also use a yellow napkin to make this flower napkin fold.
Then, what you are going to do is to fold the napkin in half. Fold it crosswise by bringing the top edge to the bottom edge.
To mimic petals of the sunflower, we need to make an accordion fold on the napkin.
Bring around an inch of the left edge to the right. Then. fold around an inch of the left edge to the back. Keep folding the joined napkins to the front and then to the back until you reach the right edge. You may follow along the dashed lines as shown above.
Shape the table napkin into a sunflower
This is what the napkin should look like when it's folded into an accordion.
Your next step is to get a decorative ribbon or a ring napkin to tie the flower fan napkin. Here we'll use a ribbon to tie the napkin.
Rotate the napkin at a 90 degree angle. Then, tie the ribbon at the middle of the table napkin.
Bring the bottom right and left corners to middle.
Do the same on the top right and left corner as well. Bring those top corner to the middle and the sunflower napkin folding is done!
Extra Tips
- If you don't want to use it as a table napkin, you can use any regular paper and turn it into sunflower paper origami. Stick a circular brown paper on the center then attach a stick at the back and you now have a sunflower paper craft that you could use as a décor. Pretty cool right?
- Is the table napkin not folding into an accordion? Use a thick piece of cloth napkin or tissue paper. If you don't have those, starch the napkin before folding it! It's best to use a paper napkin for this type of serviette folding.
- Experiment on colors. Try using a pink or red napkin and this flower napkin fold would resemble a dahlia.
